THE BIG STORY

Our deep trough that has brought incredibly cold weather to the area will slowly drift on out of here. But, another trough, combined with warmer weather will move back in next week, bringing us much needed rainfall to East Tennessee.

I will post a lot more on social media. Please be sure to like and follow @MikeWitcherTV on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. Along with @ETNweather on Facebook.

TODAY’S FORECAST

WOW! What a cold start to the day! These morning temps in the teens will slowly warm to the low 30s for the lunch hour and our afternoon highs will continue to be below average, only topping out in the 30s with a few pockets of 40s in the southern valley. If you have plans to attend any Christmas Parades tonight or this weekend, bundle up. This evening we will see temps quickly fal back into the 20s past dinner time. That means it’s going to be another brutally cold night with Saturday morning lows in the teens yet again.

ENJOY THE DAY!

THE REST OF THE STORY

Our trough will drift on out of here through the weekend as ridging moves back in. That will be responsible for warming us back up. Saturday we’re in the 40s, but Sunday we are back in the 50s.
However, we’ll see increasing clouds on Sunday as our next trough and storm approach the area. That will give us a chance for some rain late Sunday, mainly after 7pm, at this point. But, Sunday night into Monday morning expect heavy rain to slide through. That will make for a soggy start to our Monday morning. We’ll continue to see waves of energy moving through from Monday into Wednesday. That will keep rain chances elevated. And we are talking about much needed rain! The US Drought Monitor came out on Thursday and the severe drought continues to expand. Like I said, much needed rain is on the way. Behind that trough on Wednesday, temps will dip back to the 40s.
