THE BIG STORY

Happy Monday & welcome back to the workweek!
That ridge of high pressure continues to hang strong in the southeastern US. While we stay dry through Tuesday, there is a chance for rain Wednesday into Thursday as a cold front swings our way. It won’t produce a lot of rain, but heavier and much needed rain looks to move in this weekend as moisture from Potential Tropical Cyclone Eighteen moves our way. Likely to become Tropical Storm Rafeal later today.

I will post a lot more on social media. Please be sure to like and follow @MikeWitcherTV on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. Along with @ETNweather on Facebook.

TODAY’S FORECAST

Today we’ll have a mix of sun and clouds as moisture streams in from the south. We will stay rain free, even though it will look like rain at times.
We start the morning off with 50s and 60s. We’ll climb to the low to mid 70s for the lunch hour with afternoon high temperatures in the mid 70s.
If you have evening plans, it will feel great outdoors!

ENJOY THE DAY!

THE REST OF THE STORY

A cold front will swing our way over the next couple of days. That will increase the wind, especially in the mountains where we have wind advisories through the overnight hours.
Temperatures will continue to trend well above average. Highs will be in the 70s and 80s. To keep us in check, the average high is the low 60s.
This cold front will spill in light showers Wednesday & Thursday. But, there is a better chance for rain as tropical moisture moves in from the Gulf of Mexico, Saturday and Sunday.
This is likely to give us much needed, drought busting, rain. By the end of the weekend, we could end up with over one inch, especially along the Cumberland Plateau.

A LOOK AHEAD

As mentioned above, we are looking at high pressure and above average temperatures as we round out October and start November! While the Climate Prediction Center has added a small probability of an increase in the rain chances over the next 6-10 and 8-14 days out. However, based on the latest model guidance, rainfall will begin to increase this week and the weekend.
We definitely need the rain!
