THE BIG STORY
High pressure builds in through the weekend and the start of next week. That will bring us warming temperatures, back to above average for this time of the year.
But, next week we will be tracking a deep trough that will dig in the southeastern US. This could potentially bring us the coldest air of the season. Plus, more rain and the chance for light snow along the higher elevations.
Stay tuned!

TODAY’S FORECAST
We start off overcast with morning temperatures in the 40s and 50s. The clouds will stick around through the lunch hour, so temperatures will be slow to warm. But, into the afternoon we should start to see some thinning of the clouds, so peaks of sunshine if not more than that for some of us.
High temperatures will be average, in the upper 50s to low 60s.
If you have evening plans, it will be cool and dry.
ENJOY THE DAY!

THE REST OF THE STORY
While a ridge of high pressure builds in through the weekend and the start of next week bringing us warmer and above average temperatures once again.
But, as I mentioned above, we have a very deep trough that looks to dig into the southeastern US through the middle and latter part of next week. This will likely bring us the coldest air of the season by the end of next week.
But, we will see showers ahead of the trough, bringing back some much needed rain to the drough stricken area. But, with the colder air settling in, we actually could see some light snow along the higher elevations of the Cumberland Plateau and the Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee and North Carolina.
We are still a week away, so make sure to check back in to see how things develop and progress over time.
A LOOK AHEAD
We will warm toward the end of the 7 day forecast, but as mentioned above, colder air is heading our way next week. The Climate Prediction Center has already pinpointed that on their 8-14 day outlook. With next weeks storm, we look to see elevated precipitation, but behind it, very dry air settles in, which means a drier pattern sets up shop.
