THE BIG STORY

The cold front that brought us much needed rain around town will slowly slip off to our east into the weekend. High pressure builds back in.
Next week we will be tracking a big troug of low pressure. This could potentially bring us the coldest air of the season.

TODAY’S FORECAST

We start the day off with soggy conditions. Very beneficial rain has already fallen. Some of us have seen anywhere from 1/3″ to over 1″. The rain will slowly move out through the late morning hours. But it won’t be completely gone as there is a chance for a few light showers through the afternoon. What we will see are the clouds sticking around. It will be overcast and a gray, damp early afternoon, but drier for the evening rush hour.
Forecast temperatures will be slow to warm. We won’t warm a lot from sunrise through lunch time. But as the rain slowly tapers, we should make it to those seasonal averages, upper 50s to low 60s.
This evening will be cloudy & cool as temps drop to the 50s.

ENJOY THE DAY & TRY TO STAY DRY.

BUT IT DOESN’T STOP THERE

THE REST OF THE STORY

We will stay cloudy and cool through the rest of the workweek. But, heading into the weekend, high pressure builds back in which will help clear the skies and bring us warmer and above average weather.
But, heading into next week, a big trough of low pressure looks to move out of the Rockies and into the southeastern US. This potenially could bring us the coldest air of the season. Highs could drop to the 40s and 50s with lows in the 20s and 30s. But, things could change, so make sure to check back in.
You have have heard the word snow already. But at this point, if, and I emphasize if, we see any snow, it would likely be the higher elevations of the Cumberland Plateau and the Smokies.
Again, make sure to check back in!

A LOOK AHEAD

We will warm toward the end of the 7 day forecast, but as mentioned above, colder air is heading our way next week. The Climate Prediction Center has already pinpointed that on their 8-14 day outlook. With next weeks storm, we look to see elevated precipitation, but behind it, very dry air settles in, which means a drier pattern sets up shop.
