THE BIG STORY

A trough has dug into the southeastern U.S. Thas has officially brought us the coldest air of the season, so far. But, with another piece of energy moving in tonight, snow showers are possible across the higher elevations.

I will post a lot more on social media. Please be sure to like and follow @MikeWitcherTV on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. Along with @ETNweather on Facebook.

TODAY’S FORECAST

It’s going to be a chilly day today!
We start off with temps in the 30s and 40s with abundant sunshine. From Noon on, the clouds will increase as our next disturbance rolls our way. Lunch time temps will be in the low 40s with highs in the mid to upper 40s and low 50s. But, the wind will pick right back up, gusting to 20-30 mph. Therefore, we’ll have wind chills all day long in the 30s and low 40s.
Bundle up!

ENJOY THE DAY!

BUT IT DOESN’T STOP THERE

THE REST OF THE STORY

Tonight is the night our system swings into the area.
Anytime after sundown, we’ll be tracking light snow coming in out of Kentucky. The snow will pick up overnight tonight. So, as we wake up on Friday morning, what we have on the ground will be what we have for the day.
SNOWFALL TOTALS
Cumberland Plateau – Less than 1″
Valley – Flurries to a light dusting
Mountains – the higher in elevation, the more snow that will fall.
2″-5″ plus is possible with the snow continuing through the day on Friday with that upslope flow.
We will stay chilly and cloudy on Friday.
But, we’ll see increasing temperatures and sunshine through the weekend.
Next week another disturbance will roll in with showers likely on Thursday. Then colder air moves back in next weekend.

A LOOK AHEAD

We will warm toward the end of the 7 day forecast, but as mentioned above, colder air is heading our way next week. The Climate Prediction Center has already pinpointed that on their 8-14 day outlook. With next weeks storm, we look to see elevated precipitation, but behind it, very dry air settles in, which means a drier pattern sets up shop.
