THE BIG STORY

Happy Halloween!
It’s going to be a warm and breezy day as a ridge of high pressure hangs strong along the southeastern coast and a cold front approaches from the west.
Showers and thunderstorms will move from west to east, but the storm will weaken and lose moisture as it approaches East Tennessee.

I will post a lot more on social media. Please be sure to like and follow @MikeWitcherTV on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. Along with @ETNweather on Facebook.

TODAY’S FORECAST

It’s going to be an extremely warm day for the last day of October.
We start with temperatures 20 degrees above average for this time of the year. We’ll warm to the low to mid 70s by noon with afternoon highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. That’s 10 degrees above average for afternoon temperatures.
Heading into the Trick or Treat hours, the clouds will increase, but the wind will begin to relax a little. The cold front will be in Middle Tennessee, but there is a chance for some scattered showers along the Cumberland Plateau anytime after 4pm. The rest of East Tennesse will be dry through the evening hours. After we finish the night, the cold front will move through overnight tonight. It will bring scattered light showers. So, expect overcast skies with a damp start to our Friday. The cold front will linger and we don’t get a big push of drier air. So, the clouds will linger along with scattered light showers. Yes, it will be overcast and damp most of the day. Some areas of East Tennessee will receive some decent, much needed rain.

ENJOY THE DAY!

THE REST OF THE STORY

The cold front swings through on Friday. Behind it, yet again, we will not see a big push of drier air. While high pressure builds back in, which will help warm us right back up. Highs this weekend will be in the mid to upper 70s under mostly sunny skies. We stay that way through the middle part of next week. Another wave of energy will be moving our way next Tuesday and Wednesday. It will also bring us another chance for rain, but again, will not bring much in the way of cooler or drier air.
The warm and mostly dry trend continues.

A LOOK AHEAD

As mentioned above, we are looking at high pressure and above average temperatures as we round out October and start November! While the Climate Prediction Center has added a small probability of an increase in the rain chances over the next 6-10 and 8-14 days out. However, based on the latest model guidance, I don’t see much in the way of rain heading our way.
We desparately need some rainfall soon!
The good news is that as we head into the winter months, our precipitation will likely increase, based on climatology.
