TROPICAL NEWS
An absolutely astonishing hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico. Hurricane Milton went from a Tropical Storm to a Category 5 hurricane in 24 hours! Looks like the last time this happened was in 2015, Hurricane Patricia in the Pacific Ocean did the exact same thing. Absolutely astonishing rapid intensification!
Milton is currently a Category 4 just on the north side of the Yucitan Pennensula and has it’s eyes on western Florida by late Wednesday into early Thursday.
Based on the latest model trends, it could make landfall as a Category 2 or 3 around the Tampa Bay area.
This will be massive destruction to that community after they continue to clean up from Hurricane Helene.

TODAY’S FORECAST
Here at home, our forecast is dominated by a cool & dry ridge of high pressure moving in out of the Upper Midwest.
Today we start off with temperatures 10°-15° cooler than the same time Monday morning.
High temperatures today will top out in the low to mid and even a few pockets of upper 70s. But, because we have dry air in place, it will feel just perfect for this time of the year.
BUT IT DOESN’T STOP THERE

THE REST OF THE STORY
I don’t know about you, but this is the kind of weather I’d like to keep around.
The good news is, it will stick around through the week. High pressure shifts from the Ohio Valley to the Tennessee Valley and that will keep the air dry.
It will also bring us cooler weather, at least from what we’ve been experiencing lately. Highs will be more seasonable, in the mid to upper 70s.
There is another cold front expected Sunday into Monday of next week. It also looks to be rather moisture starved, so don’t expect much in the way of rain. However, it also could bring us the coolest air of the season. Highs are projected to drop into the 60s.
Now, that’s what I’m talking about this time of the year!
A LOOK AHEAD
We are in for a nice dry weather pattern this week. But, per the Climate Prediction Center, we are going to be on the drier side through the middle of the month. Which, of course, is par for the course for the month of October.

A LOOK BACK
It’s amazing how fast a drought can disapprear, but it’s also amazing what Mother Nature can do to get there.
We continue to have a moderate drought in the southern valley, as expected. The just didn’t get the rain that Upper East Tennessee received. With October being the driest month of the year, this drought will likely expand over the next few weeks. Check back in.
