THE BIG STORY
Big changes are taking shape this week.
Our Sunday night cold front that brought us a few showers and storms late in the evneing has now pushed to our southeast. Behind it, cooler and drier air settles in. That will give us a big drop in our highs and lows this week. Plus, another disturbance will swing through the base of the trough on Tuesday into Wednesday. That will bring us a shot of light snow in the mountains.
I will post a lot more on social media. Please be sure to like and follow @MikeWitcherTV on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. Along with @ETNweather on Facebook.

TODAY’S FORECAST
Once again this morning started off fairly average with morning temps in the 40s & 50s.
It will be sunny and gusty today as a cold front moves into the area. The wind out ahead of it will be out of the southwest 10-20 mph, but gusting up to 30 mph. Behind the front, the wind will shift to the northwest, ushering in drier and colder weather. More on that in a minute.
But, let’s talk about the chance for evening and early overnight storms. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a level one risk for isolated strong to severe storms. Now, I’m not talking about spring type of severe weather, but we have a lot of cold air aloft moving in. This will help create instibility and the possiblity of hail out of any of the storms. But, with the energy in the atmosphere, we could see a few storms produce strong gusty winds.
Something to keep an eye on.
BUT IT DOESN’T STOP THERE

THE REST OF THE STORY
Okay, so our Sunday cold front is ushering in cooler and drier air to start the workweek. However, there is another piece of energy moving around the base of our trough. That is going to bring us another round of cooler and drier air. Plus, the atmosphere will try and squeeze out any available moisture and because temperatures will be cold enough, there’s a chance for some light snow to develop in the mountains of East Tennessee and North Carolina. Don’t expect much, but it is our first chance for snow this fall season.
Once we get through Wednesday, a ridge of high pressure will build back into the area. That will allow our temperatures to warm back to those seasonal average as we head into the weekend.

A LOOK AHEAD
We are in for a nice dry weather pattern this week. But, per the Climate Prediction Center, we are going to be on the drier side through the middle of the month. Which, of course, is par for the course for the month of October. Plus, we end the 7 day stretch on the colder than average side, but a ridge of warmer high pressure will start to nudge our way over the next two weeks.
