THE BIG STORY

Here we go again my friends!
A ridge of high pressure will continue to build in through the week.
At the surface, we have high pressure along the Mid Atlantic. That will be responsible for bringing us a southerly flow to the air. Warmer and more humid weather moves in from the south. Aloft, we have a ridge building in from the southwestern United States. As that moves in, temperatures will warm. That also limits our rain chances through most of the week. However, another trough will swing in along the Great Lakes that will push a cold front through the area late Halloween into early Friday morning, the first day of November. Expect limited rain chances.

TODAY’S FORECAST

Welcome to the workweek!
We start the day off with patchy dense fog, especially if you have travel plans west along I-40 toward Nashville. The fog will burn off and we’ll see plenty of afternoon sunshine, especially from what we experienced over the weekend.
Lunch time temperatures will reach the low to mid 60s.
Afternoon temperatures will be warmer, thanks to the sunshine expected. Highs climb to the low, mid and upper 70s.
If you have evening plans, enjoy because it will feel great outside.

ENJOY THE DAY!

BUT IT DOESN’T STOP THERE

THE REST OF THE STORY

It will be another warm week, October week as a ridge of high pressure builds in. As mentioned above, surface high pressure continue to hang out along the Mid-Atlantic. That will bring us a southerly flow, which will bring us more heat and humidity. Adding more moisture to the air will help make the air feel warmer during the afternoon. That surface high pressure will hang strong along the east coast. Therefore, the dew points will continue to be in the 50s and 60s. Which will keep our morning lows nice and comfortable. A ridge of high pressure moves in from the southwest, whcih really helps bring us the heat this week. We are talking temperatures running 10-15 degrees above average for this time of the year.
However, a cold front will approach East Tennessee Thursday, Halloween. So, at this time, expect the clouds to increase, but so will the temperatures. It will be a very mild Halloween this year. As of now, we should stay dry for Trick or Treating, but the Cumberland Plateau may have a chance for some light rain around or shortly after Trick or Treating. For the rest of the East Tennessee will see some light rain moving through during the overnight hours. At this point, we are looking at less than a 1/4″ of rainfall. Heaviest will be west and lighter rain further east.
Have a great week!

A LOOK AHEAD

As mentioned above, we are looking at high pressure and above average temperatures as we round out October and start November! We’re also likely to be trending on the drier side. Not necessarily great news as the drought will likely build back in and realize we are in fire season.
