TODAY’S FORECAST

Today will bring a risk for severe storms and localized flooding and flash flooding.
The Storm Prediction Center has put East Tennessee under a level 2 risk for severe storms. Damaging wind will be the main threat.
But, because the atmosphere is water loaded, flooding and flash flooding is a concern. The Weather Prediction Center has us under a level 1 and 2 risk for localized flooding.

High temperatures will be about average, back to the mid to upper 80s. But the humidity is so high, the heat index will be close to 100 degrees.

LOOKING AHEAD

We will do this again on Wednesday. We have a risk for severe storms, damaging wind will be the main threat. But we also have the risk for localized flooding and flash flooding again. Some areas have received quite a bit of rain over the past week or so.
Then a ridge of high pressure builds through the rest of the week. That will bring the heat. Highs will be in the low to mid 90s with a heat index close to HEAT ADVISORY criteria.
We will see some drier weather conditions Thursday and Friday, but those rain chances ramp back up on Saturday. It’s looking like a 50/50 weekend with Sunday being the best day to be outside.
