A WARM, WINDY & ELEVATED FIRE DANGER DAY TODAY

Happy Sunday!
We start the day off with temps a little cooler than Saturday, but still pleasant with tons of morning sunshine. We stay sunny through most of the day. Lunch time temps will climb to the 60s and afternoon highs reach the low to mid 70s.
Once again the wind will start to pick up through the day. Expect a southerly wind of 10-20 mph, but gusting to 30 mph. With the low relative humidity that will be in place today, the National Weather Service out of Morristown, Tennessee, has issued a SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT due to increased fire danger.
So no burning today, but if you are raking up leaves to do some spring cleaning, do it earlier because of the afternoon wind.
ENJOY!

A LINE OF STORMS MOVES IN AFTER SUNDOWN TONIGHT

A cold front moves in tonight, bringing showers and storms to East Tennessee!
Here are the details…
As we head into the evening hours, mainly after 7pm, a cold front will be heading our way out of Middle Tennessee. For you along the Cumberland Plateau, expect the first sign of these showers and storms anytime after 6pm CDT. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a level one risk for isolated strong to severe storms. We don’t have a lot of instability, but we will see in influx of dew points in the mid 50s, which will be the fuel to the storms. That will be right along the leading edge of the cold front. If we were to see any severe storms, damaging wind is the main threat, but can’t rule out hail and yes, even an isolated tornado warning cannot be ruled out. So, have a way to receive weather alerts this evening. The eastTNweather app is your number one weather app for just that. Plus it gives you so much more.

This cold front will bring heavy rain to the area. The Weather Prediction Center has issued a level one risk for flood concerns. While I’m not expecting much, isolated flooding could occur.
