ALL DAY SUNSHINE, BREEZY WITH ELEVATED FIRE DANGER

Wow.. another beautiful spring day in East Tennessee!
We start the morning with chilly but warmer than yesterday. We will have all day sunshine with lunch time temps climbing to the mid to upper 60s. Afternoon highs will rise to the mid to upper 70s.
Like the past few days, we have an ELEVATED FIRE DANGER due to very low relative humidity levels and breezy southwest winds of 5-15 mph.
Because of this, the National Weather Service has issued a SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT for all of East Tennessee.
Please use caution due to the fire danger!
Heading into the evening commute, dinner and bedtime, temps will stay rather comfortable.
ENJOY!
A big storm arrives this weekend. Keep reading for more on that!

A WARM SPRING WEEK WITH LIGHT RAIN & CLOUDS ON THURSAY

High pressure is the name of the game. That’s going to allow our highs to warm into the low to mid 70s.
Despite warming temperatures, we do have a little wave that will roll our way on Thursday. This will bring us more bark than bite. Meaning… we’ll have mostly cloudy skies with very light rain thanks to a dry low level of the atmosphere.
Remember, you can track all this with the eastTNweather app!

NOW WE LOOK AHEAD TO NEXT WEEKEND WHERE A BIG STORM IS EXPECTED

A strong low pressure system is expected to form on the eastern side of the Rockies. It’s expected to be so strong that the big dogs from NOAA have already issued ‘advisory’ graphics displaying what potentially could happen.
Let’s dive into the details….
This low is expected to drop to near hurricane strength pressure. We’re looking at this to happned through the day on Friday. Because of the strength being forecast, the folks from NOAA have issued graphics talking about the intense rain that will be associated with this storm. But, it goes above and beyond that. We already have a risk for severe weather Friday through Sunday. And yes, that does include us here in East Tennessee. We are also looking at the heavy rain potential, so the RISK FOR HEAVY RAIN graphics have been issued as well. Then we talk about the wind. Because this storm will be so strong with very low pressure, it will produce a huge wind field!
Make sure to check back in this week.

7 DAY FORECAST

ABOVE AND BEYOND THE 7 DAY FORECAST

Looking past the 7 Day Forecast, the Climate Prediction Center has issues a forecast based on probabilities.
These maps don’t show you how far above or below, but rather an idea of how strong the signal is.
