INCREASING SIGNIFICANT WIND THROUGH THE DAY

It’s a chilly start to the day, but at least we will be warmer this afternoon than what we experienced on Sunday. With that the National Weather Service has a SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT in place due to the very low relative humidity values. Lunch time temps will climb to the 40s and low 50s with afternoon highs in the mid to upper 50s. If you have evening plans, we wil continue to need the light jacket, but it won’t be too cold.

OUR NEXT WEATHERMAKER

A strong low pressure will be lifting out of the Great Plains and gain strength as it moves our way. However, as it moves into our area, it looks to weaken some, which is great news. While we may not have a huge, widespread severe weather event, we will be dealing with a big wind event.
The National Weather Service has issued a WIND ADVSIORY and a HIGH WIND WATCH for East Tennessee. There will be a very strong low level jetstream that will bring incredible wind, especially to the mountains. The wind could be gusting to 70 mph hour or great at the peaks of the Smokies.
The big severe weather risk is to our west and southwest. The bullseye seems to be in northern Louisiana, southern Arkansas and central Mississippi. That’s where the greatest risk for tornadoes exists.
I’ll be watching this closely over the next 24 to 36 hours as this cold front approaches.
