TODAY’S FORECAST

Finally some quiet weather settles back in on the backside of all this rain. Yes, it was likely some much needed, drought helping rain.
Expect sunshine with some afternoon clouds. It’s going to stay cool though with highs in the 40s an 50s.
By the way, check out the moon!

THE REST OF THE STORY

As I’ve mentioned before, the rain isn’t over yet. We have a strong cold front that will be sweeping through the area on Saturday night into Sunday morning. This will bring a scattered showers for the first part of our Saturday. Then we should see drier weather conditions through the day on Saturday with a few passing showers. All in all, I don’t anticipate much rain through most of our Saturday. However, anytime after 10pm, expect a line of possible strong to severe storms. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a level 1 & 2 risk for East Tennessee. The Weather Prediction Center has also issued a level 1 & 2 risk for flooding and flash flooding. So, like I said, we are not out of the woods just yet. On Sunday, the cold front will slide to our east and that will allow for cold air advection, colder air moving in. We will also squeeze out a little snow in the mountains of East Tennessee and North Carolina and possible a few light snow showers along the Cumberland Plateau. It won’t add up to much, but it will be colder.

ABOVE AND BEYOND THE 7 DAY FORECAST

Looking past the 7 Day Forecast, the Climate Prediction Center has strong signals of below average temperatures with the possibility of above average precipitation.
