SAY IT AIN’T SNOW

Our next winter storm arrives tonight and last through Thursday morning.
Our next low pressure system moves out of the Deep South starting today and tonight. It will be snowing in most places Wednesday morning, but I don’t anticipate any travel concerns, at least in most locations.
However, the heaviest snow will likely fall from sunrise thorugh about 10am. Then it will lighten up and we may even see some light rain in the mountain counties thanks to a downsloping wind off the mountains.
Another wave of energy moves through Wednesday night into Thursday morning. That, combined with temperatures falling through the overnight hours, more snow will develop.
I think we will have more travel issues Thursday morning than through the day on Wednesday.
SNOWFALL FORECAST
Cumberland Plateau – 1″-2″+
TN/KY border – 1″-2″+
Upper East Tennessee Valley – under 2″
South of I-40 – Less than 1″
Smoky Mountains – 2″-4″+

STAY TUNED!

THE BIG PICTURE

Big travel concerns across the region will begin through the day today and last all the way through Thursday.
The heaviest snow will be in Kentucky and along I-40 and I-70.
Again, I think the heaviest snow will fall Wednesday morning, but then another wave moves in through Thursday morning. I am anticipating icy roads come Thursday morning.

ABOVE AND BEYOND THE 7 DAY FORECAST

Looking past the 7 Day Forecast, the Climate Prediction Center has strong signals of below average temperatures with the possibility of above average precipitation.
