TODAY’S FORECAST

Good morning!
We start the day with some mid to high clouds. We’ll see some sunshine through the late morning/early afternoon hours. Then the clouds will increase this evening as our next storm moves into the area. High temperatures will climb back to the seasonal averages, 40s to low 50s.
We stay precipitation free today.

THE REST OF THE STORY

Our next storm moves in overnight tonight and through midday Monday.
It’s a fast moving system, but the precipitation values have increased a bit from the past couple of days. So, it looks like a cold rain to a wintry mix through mid-morning.
Here’s the deal though… I don’t think there will be any problems on the roads. First of all we’ve been a bit warmer this week. Second of all, morning temperatures will hover right around freezing. And third, we just don’t have a ton of moisture to work with. With all that said, I think it’s going to be a cold rain south of I-40. But north of I-40 we have a chance for a wintry mix and light accumulations along the higher terrain. The classic horseshoe effect in East Tennessee. I’m thinking less than 1″ is mostly likely the case for the snow prone areas. Maybe 2″-3″ in the Smoky Mountains. This will move out during the afternoon and believe it or not, high temperatures will warm to the low to mid 40s. Another reason why we won’t have any travel concerns.
Several more waves of energy move our way this next week. The one on Wednesday I don’t think will produce much for us. But, next weekend we have warmer, above average termperatures with increasing rain Friday through Sunday.
Make sure to check back in this week.
